Anne Marie Goetz
Anne Marie Goetz is a Clinical Professor at the Center for Global Affairs, School of Professional Studies, New York University, where she studies women’s political participation, democratization, anti-corruption, and gender issues in conflict and peacebuilding. She served at the United Nations UNIFEM’s Senior Advisor on Governance, Peace and Security, and as the Director of UN Women’s Peace and Security Section. Prior to 2005 she was a Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies, University of Sussex. While at the UN, Dr. Goetz spearheaded initiatives to encourage the UN’s peace and security institutions to address sexual violence in conflict as a tactic of warfare, to ensure that women participate in peace talks.
