Jihyun Kim is a PhD candidate at the Department of Government and International Relations, The University of Sydney. Her PhD thesis topic examines gender development discourse in Thailand. Particularly, she looks at how the Thai government, UN Women and local NGOs in Thailand construct the subject of female migrants in trafficking, security and women empowerment discourse landscapes in Thailand. Before her PhD, she worked in the development industry both in an international organisation and a government agency. She holds B.A. in Communication from Sungshin Women’s University and M.A. in Southeast Asian regional studies from Sogang University, South Korea.
