Hawar is a Social Science PhD candidate at Exeter University UK, researching the influences of identity on Kurdish youth. He holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Political Economy from Cardiff University with his thesis on the impact of the Oil for Food Program on Agriculture in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Hawar spent most of his life in the UK where he worked as Policy and Events Manager at the Welsh Refugee Council before returning to Iraqi Kurdistan where he worked as MEAL Manager prior to joining the Centre for Gender and Development Studies team.
